Today is a national holiday in the U.S. where our country celebrates the life and work of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King who marched, spoke, and worked for compassion, peace and equality for ALL people. His actions truly changed the world for the better, which is a quality deeply admired by AVANTians and reflected by our core values as a company. We live in a time where making a positive difference and changing the world can be done in relative comfort thanks to technology. On this day, when so many people are suffering as a result of the earthquake in Haiti, help us celebrate and spread Dr. Kings message of compassion and unity by contributing to relief efforts. Happy MLK!

Thanks to those of you who joined us for pixelSessions 1.0 (http://pixelsessions.com)! We had riveting presentations from Jared Ficklin (Principal Technologist, Frog Design), Jenny Hansen (Creative Director, SuperSecret), Josh Ulm (Director of Experience Design, Adobe), and Michael Ernst (Creative Director, Yelp). We recorded the sessions and Q&A as well as took a ton of event photos which should be posted shortly to the site. We are already planning the next event for July / August – so stay tuned for an announcement. We do some of our best work when we’re constrained: by budgets, by headcount, by technology, by the economy. These are the times when bureaucracy and waste die by necessity. What’s left are ideas, and the muscle to make them real.

We couldnt agree more! As a results-based agency, AVANT is very much tuned-in to the over arching theme of RIA / economy / community (social media) this year. We plug in very nicely to larger agencies looking for a skilled stealth team to design and build out applications for their clients as well as a stand alone team for clients who need projects completed soup to nuts.  AVANTIANS will be peruesing the expo and sessions and continuing the conversation at the events and parties afterwards.
